Lawrence Fernandez (Chairman of the School Development Committee, Retired teacher, poet, lyricist, and theater artist), Sauda Bivi (Headmaster, Gov’t L.P.S., Kadinamkulam), Asha (School teacher, Gov’t L.P.S., Kadinamkulam), and Sujith Edwin Pereira (Director, NaITER) were present at the ceremony held at the school at 2.30 p.m. In addition, Vishnu Prasad M. V. (Secretary, Pratheeksha Charitable Society), Aravind (Intern social work student) and Vineeth (Intern social work student) also participated as representatives of Pratheeksha Charitable Society.

Mr. Sudheesh (Sub-Inspector of Police, Kadinamkulam) inaugurated the program. The book distribution event was conducted in collaboration with the National Institute for Training and Educational Research (NAITER) and the Emergency Task Force. Kadinamkulam Janamaithri police in-charge Mr. Ashim, Mr. Sujith Edwin Perera (Director, NaITER), Mr. Aravind (Social Work Student) and Mr. Vineeth (Social Work Student) participated in the activity.

Akshara project alliances with sponsors to provide educational aid and scholarships to underprivileged students. Akshara helps sponsors foster a good relationship with their mentees.

One of the earliest recipients of Akshara’s assistance is Nithuna who is currently studying in class IX. Prateeksha’s secretary Vishnu Prasad reached Nithuna’s home and gave her the gifts that her sponsor, Mrs. Latha had sent for her. He enquired into her academic progress and promised all kinds of future assistance.
