Did you ever know the fact that you were born with the ability to change someone’s life?? Am sure many of you wouldn’t have thought about it. Yes, the topic in discussion is organ donation.
Every day we hear about all kinds of drives that go on, but an organ donation drive is one of its kind. I believe there is still a lot of reluctance among people to come forward willingly towards this drive, even though it provides an opportunity for those with disabilities.
Srishti Innovative, since its inception in 2007, is a service to the weaker section of the society in areas like education and health.
In continuation of the above and as part of our 9th Foundation day celebrations, we conducted an organ donation camp in Techno Park, which was inaugurated by our CEO Mr.Krishnadas Pisharam and Mrs.Preetha Mohan. We organized it on 29th and 30th August 2016, in association with Pratheksha charitable trust and with the support from Mrithasanjeevani, the organ donation wing of the Kerala Government.
Our volunteers visited companies who expressed their interest in participating. Those interested had to fill-up the form regarding organ donation. It was an act of charity to save someone’s life. Those who filled up the form and got registered were provided with a pocket card with the details attached.
A pocket card or the Donor Card enables people to express their wish to become an organ donor. It is like making a will. By signing the ‘Donor Card’ you agree to organ donation. Keep the Donor Card with you always in your purse or wallet. Inform your close relatives about your wish to be an organ donor. The Donor Card also a substitutes for an emergency card as it has the contact number in case of any emergency.
The good news is, more and more companies showed interest and now we are forced to extend the drive for more days. I swear it is a tough time for volunteers..but they were more than happy to be part of this noble cause. At Srishti, we believe that by performing such acts of kindness, people would learn and grow to become more considerate of their fellow beings.
